Education,Technology, Culture, government policy, political influence and managerial skills are often never looked at in totally while implementing wildlife projects. As result, multi-million projects have turned out to be 'white elephants'.This book examines the importance of these factors from a perspective of a small projects dubbed 'lion-proof boma' at the base of Africa's highest mountain-Kilimanjaro.The lion-proof boma is a new initiative to the Maasai community, aimed at bringing in a win-win situation, where community live in harmony with predators. Livestock loss is reduced by fortifying traditional bomas to a lion-proof status. The threatened lions population, estimated to be only 2000 in Kenya are also spared from persecution through retaliatory killings.
