Increasing level of generation of municipal solid waste have long posed serious threats to local environmental quality and human health.Municipal solid waste management is the responsibility of local governments consuming a greater percentage of their budgets in developing countries.However budget constraints have made Metropolitan,Municipal and District Assemblies unable to meet the cost in managing the ever increasing volumes of waste.Improvements in solid waste management is required; however to obtain such improvements, a higher payment is also anticipated. In line with this, it is very important to explore the possibility of cost sharing by households and for this we need to explore their willingness to pay for such services.
