F. Jay is a Tennessee native who loves flowers and gardening. She tries to plant flowers that will attract hummingbirds and butterflies. She finds butterflies fascinating. She hopes children will learn to read and to love nature. One of her hobbies is watercolor painting. F. Jay painted the butterflies in this story, along with Tamara Waller of Jackson. F. Jay thinks there is nothing that can brighten your day more than seeing something colorful.This is F. Jay's second children's book. Her first, "Calling All Gullfriends," is about seagulls. F. Jay has been writing since she was twelve years old. She graduated from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, with a Bachelor of Science degree in radio-television and a minor in journalism. She continues writing and painting in her home state of Tennessee.
