Wireless mesh networks(WMNS)are being developed actively and deployed widely for a variety of applications, such as public safety, environment monitoring, and citywide wireless Internet services. In fact, Wireless Mesh Network is a communications network made up of radio nodes organized in a mesh topology.Their promise of rapid deployability and reconfigurability makes them suitable for transient ondemand network deployment scenarios such as disaster recovery, homeland security, convention centers, hard-to-wire buildings and friendly terrains.WMNs are envisioned to provide various data and multimedia applications, such as Internet access, neighborhood gaming, Video-on-Demand(VoD)and emergency communications, to wireless users in the near future. In WMNs there are many reasons which will cause link failure during data transmission and these failures will decrease the performance of the network. There are some solutions for failure recovery in WMNs and these techniques are introduced and discussed. Older techniques have more limitations and to overcome those limitations, newer techniques are discussed on focus
