Every day all incoming and outgoing vehicles carrying material are weighted at company gate by means of weighbridge. In industries spread over large geographical area and having scattered filling and unloading sections excessive wiring needs to be done to transmit weight data of vehicle at gate to respective place in plant. Now a days in many industrial sectors like construction sector companies use portable weighbridges at their site for weighing of incoming construction material to make sure for correct weight measures. In such scenarios the amount of data transfer to be done is not much and the cost of industrial signal cable is high for purchase, installation and maintenance. With available low cost microcontrollers and wireless technology, significant cost reduction can be achieved by transmission of weighbridge data on wireless channel. With this modification in data transfer of weighbridge, the installation of portable weighbridge also becomes easy. The book discusses Robust sensor network using Zigbee protocol and Microchip's PIC microcontroller has been used for the implementation of prototype design for a wireless weighbridge development.
