Having written this story, it is my hope that the reader will not be encouraged to possess a hybrid or full-blooded wolf. It is also my hope that while the reader understands the amazing bond that existed between Lazarus and myself, they should also understand that wolves do not belong in the home. Nor do they belong in populated areas. The best place for wolves now, is certainly not the home, or even the continental United States. It is Alaska, and other such remote places. It is not fair to the wolves to relocate them here in the States.Regardless of what the legislation is, the reality is that people will shoot them, justified or not.I was lucky in that my relationship with Lazarus was a safe one, but it was more coincidence and circumspection than anything else. Had I gotten him when he was an adult and did not know his history, the end to my story could have been very different. He was unique and there is no chance that the situation could be ever duplicated. In other words, beware, my friends. Wolves are not evil, but they are dangerous beyond anything you can imagine. They are magnificent creatures who belong in the wild places, as God intended - not your living room. - Drew Gomber
