'To change the world, one has to change the ways of making the world, that is, the vision of the world and the practical operations by which groups are produced and reproduced' (Bourdieu, 1990b, p.137, cited in Wendy Ashall, 2003, p.31). Gender discrimination on a labour market is a widely discussed problem. In my work I described gender relations on the labour market from a perspective of women who decided to enter into self-employment. I investigated the phenomenon of this form of employment in a few aspects. I focused on reasons why women decided to become self-employed, barriers they need to faced, benefits connected with being self-employed and relations between entrepreneurs. My main aim was to characterize the phenomenon of self- employment, to find out if it might change unequal access to economic power in the labour market and, as a result, in the whole social order.
