The study investigates the main reasons behind the deforestation in Somaliland and the negative impacts it has on the environmental sustainability and development. The main objective of this study is about the reliance of wood fuel consumption and the negative impact it has on Somaliland sustainability and development. People in all the Somaliland regions rely on charcoal which is produced from the deforestation of vegetation. Every day more than thousands of trees are deforested and consumed by the society. As a result of this environmental degradation has hit the our environment which were previously green and full of wooded area. Entire forests have been completely leveled on the ground. Soil erosion is going on in these areas. The main reason for the charcoal is that people have traditionally relied upon it for the last century and that adopting other alternatives have become either expensive or difficult. Somaliland is currently going backward in terms of environmental development because nothing has so far been done against this dilemma. As a result of this, agricultural and grazing land have been deforested and this led many people and Wildlife to flee.
