Earlier during the stone-age, man tried to make his survival by searching for various ways of finding food. Later, he realized to make shelter and clothes. In the due course of evolution, man tried to fulfill his basic needs first, after that comforts and later luxuries. Earlier, work was a matter of existence and for many years, it remained the same. Gradually drastic changes in economic conditions became one of the causes to the changes in the nature of work and the workforce. Gradually, work became a source of personal satisfaction where there was a clear demarcation between work and family as technology did not develop as it has developed and developing now. As work nature shifted from the Machine age to the Industrial age, a sea-change was observed in the nature of work and types of work. Man tried to find a way to maintain a balance in his family life and professional life. First, this was just a problem of sharing time in different quadrants of life like professional life,family life and personal life, social life only for men as women were very rarely seen working outside.
