This research was designed to identify: high demand occupational skill needs; current training services; the shifting and changing trends based on technology, competition, workforce composition; and the need for partnerships. A survey, based on current and emerging trends and their impact on workforce development training services, was sent to the 22 Virginia Community College workforce development leaders. This purposeful sampling provided a 100% return and Data that reinforced the literature findings and the projections of the Department of Labor through 2016.

Mary Greer Landon worked in the airline industry for 20 years. She has a BS from Southern Illinois University, a Master¿s and PhD from Old Dominion University (ODU) in Virginia. She was the Associate Vice President for Workforce Development at Tidewater Community College, is a workforce skill training consultant, and an Associate Professor at ODU.
