Kalani Mbeye Malema ha conseguito un MBA presso l'Università del Malawi nel 2013. Dal 2006 lavora come ispettore del lavoro e ricercatore presso il Ministero del Lavoro del Malawi. Ha pubblicato un libro online dal titolo: "A Summary of Labour Legislation in Malawi" (Sintesi della legislazione sul lavoro in Malawi), che contiene brevi disposizioni chiave di facile consultazione degli atti legislativi sul lavoro del Malawi.
