Working memory is conceptualized as storage buffers, rehearsal and executive processes. It is a crucial brain function. The processes and mechanism of working memory in brain has eluded many since historical time. The assessment and investigation of the brain has given us insights to the neural correlates of the working memory. Various factors have been implicated in the performance of the working memory by many researchers and clinicians. We have examined the neural correlates of the visual working memory through fMRI. Our findings indicate that the education plays a major role in the functioning of the brain for visual working memory. Our study thus implies the importance of education in the cognitive functions such as working memory. This work could be extended to other cognitive functions.
