Ronak Husni has taught Arabic language, modern and classical literature, gender studies, translation and cultural studies in a number of universities in the UK, including St. Andrews, Durham and Heriot-Watt University over the course of twenty-four years. Her main area of research is classical and modern Arabic literature, applied translation studies, gender studies and Arabic as a foreign language. Her study and translation of the Tunisian reformer Al-Qasim al-Haddad's seminal book Muslim Women in Law and Society won her the 2007 World Award of the President of the Republic of Tunisia for Islamic Studies. She is currently a professor of Arabic and Translation Studies at the American University of Sharjah. Aziza Zaher has taught Arabic language and translation for more than twenty years in a number of higher education institutions in Egypt and the UK. Her research interests are teaching Arabic as a foreign language, systemic functional linguistics and critical discourse analysis. She is currently Assistant Professor of Arabic at the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at Durham University, and she received Durham University's Excellence in Learning and Teaching Award in 2018.
