Every child, regardless of his intellectual development, has the right and deserves the chance for a better, satisfying and happier life. The task of the school is to recognize the needs of each student and to identify students with special needs. This group includes the students who have higher abilities, who distinguish from others, and the students who are gifted. However, when we talk about gifted students, this implies that we must work with them differently, with a special program where we will adapt the activities to their real needs and potentials. But the most important link in all this is how to recognize them. Besides this, it is very important whether our teachers are ready to work with these students, whether they own the necessary competences, and whether they have the support of the school and the authorities or the support from parents and the community. Therefore, we have contributed to this paper a short survey conducted in elementary schools in Prizren and Peja regions.
