"Worth Fighting For" takes the reader on a journey that began in San Francisco and continues to the present in Marin County, California. The author often asks the difficult questions posed in his poems and songs, mixing them with humor, or even masking them altogether. If takes a skilled reader to read between the lines and intuitively understand the underlying message. More often that not, the questions are not forthcoming and one has to come to their own conclusions. These poems were never intended for publication, however, as a recording was being made of "Worth Fighting For", it seems an opportune time to offer some content into the back story, and what could be more so than personal poems, songs, and memoirs marking periods of pain and beauty, great themes underlying all great art. As a result, no attempt has been made to arrange them as to topic, meter, style, or humor. The one deviation to this structure has been in collecting poems for Part I, where the lead poem resides along with others embracing the overall theme of "Worth Fighting For". These subjects account for only 6% of the overall content. Unless you are reading an epic poem like "The Iliad" by Homer or "Leaves of Grass" by Walt Whitman: a reader of a great book of poems should be able to enjoy the volume in whatever page he happens upon, ultimately feeling they have enjoyed the work and have possibly seen the world through the authors eyes. The poems in this volume have enriched my life and I hope they will enrich yours. Craig Stuart Adams Marin County, California November, 2024
