This first occurred in 1996, when The Dusek Family, The Fabulous Kangaroos, and the Road Warriors entered the hall. The Fabulous Freebirds and The Midnight Express have also been inducted as a group. The hall of fame was created to recognize people associated with wrestling. Other halls of fame existed, but they were owned and operated by specific professional wrestling promotions, such as the WWE, WCW, and NWA Halls of Fame.
