'Writers and Audiences: Focus on Femi Osofisan' is a landscape discourse on not only writers generally but on Osofisan's audienceship in two Nigerian Universities. The book examines Osofisan s drama and theatre as well as the thematic strands that cut across his plays and how his background influences his work to demonstrate that from the standpoint of writers and their audiences, there is a mutual relationship: the inherent problematic of this relationship is the issue of meaning, understanding or interpretation that the audience the final recipients of the work-bring to bear on the work. In the end the author recommends the strategy for Osofisan s plays to gain currency in secondary schools, colleges of education and polytechnics to increase his readers/audience and boost his popularity by necessarily building a poetics of audience into his plays right from the level of the creative idea (inspiration) based on a model of a perceived audience.
