Many factors contributed to the success of this series. Apart from its tragic but memorable storyline, this series features a strong cast, such as Felix Wong, Deric Wan (who rose to fame with his role as the main antagonist), Carina Lau, Kathy Chow Hoi-Mei and Maggie Siu. The popular theme song of the series, What One Wants in Life was sung originally by Danny Chan and later Deric Wan himself.
