The X.U.E. formed from the ranks of the XSE, a team of mutants dedicated to bringing criminal mutants to justice in the fallout of the Sentinels'' defeat. Disgruntled by the X.S.E. tactics and the world they lived in, X.S.E. members Archer, Fixx, and Greystone went "rogue", joined forces with the mutant known as Genesis (possibly a future version of Forge) and formed the X.U.E. They wished to travel back in time to prevent their era from happening. Shard also joined their ranks for a brief period.
