In 1864, the corps was divided into two wings of two divisions each. The left wing, under Maj. Gen. Grenville Dodge participated in Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman's Atlanta Campaign. It was dissolved at the end of the campaign and its units divided between other formations of the Army of the Tennessee.
