The Jewish community of Yampol dates back to the 15th century, and maybe much earlier than that. Its most distinguished rabbi was Rabbi reb Mechel the "Holy MAGID" from Zlotsov and his son Reb Yosef of Yampol, also the "Noda Bihuda" was serving as Rav there before moving to "Prauge". Yampol is most known for the special holy cemetery site of their distinguished rebbes where the first "Ohel" was built over a Hasidic grave site (by his rebbe the "Baal Shem Tov" and "Magid Of Mezritch" it was build years later) something that was copied by all other "Hasidic Dynasties". In 2002 the foundations of the original "Ohel" were discovered, and a new building was build over the grave sites, which attracts thousands of visitors each year, especially during the summer months, a modern 4 star hotel, named "Prominent" was build next to the old cemetery to accommodate the hundred's and thousend's of visitors.
