Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Yaohnanen is a tribe of people from the island of Tanna in Vanuatu. They are perhaps most famous in the West for their belief that Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh is a divine being. Their leader was chief Jack Naiva until he died in his 90s. They practice the custom of wearing a penis sheath. The tribe was featured on the second season of the Spanish television series "Perdidos en la Tribu," (Lost in the Tribe), on which they cohabitated with a Spanish family during the course of 21 days, teaching them their customs and culture. As with many tribal cultures, the Yaohnanen (or Nakulamene, as they appeared on the program), have a high sense of masculine dominance within the social structuring and practices of the tribe. The women are not allowed to touch the food during the menstrual cycle and also must sleep in a separate hut until it has finished. The man also do not tell the women when they are leaving to hunt and instead go in secret, as they believe telling would bring them bad luck during the hunt.
