Population migrations raise the question of the fate of migrant groups. The Baule people of Côte d'Ivoire, despite their cultural homogeneity, are an example of this with the Yaoure and the Ayaou, two sub-groups belonging to the same group, but with particularities linked to their fate. How did these two Baule sub-groups have different destinies? This is the problem that is addressed in this study. To answer this question, a methodology is put in place, consisting of the collection and analysis of numerous facts that have marked the history of the Baule in general, and that of the subgroups studied in particular. Thus, this difference in destinies between Yaouré and Ayaou occurred first in their establishment in their respective zones of settlement, then in their relations with the central Baule political power installed in Walèbo, and finally in the way of life that each of the two sub-groups adopted in contact with the indigenous populations of the region and in their relationswith the new environment in which they settled.
