Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Yarmouth South Town, sometimes known as Yarmouth Southtown, was a railway station in Great Yarmouth, England, that is now closed. It was one of three major stations in the town, the others being Yarmouth Vauxhall and Yarmouth Beach, of which only Yarmouth Vauxhall now remains. Yarmouth South Town was the northern terminus of the Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Railway''s short line between Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft across the Suffolk border, and it was also the terminus of the Great Eastern Railway line to Beccles and beyond. It managed to survive the initial wave of the Beeching Axe, but was eventually closed in 1970. The old station was used as the headquarters of an oil company before being demolished in the 1980s to make way for the A12 link road. The A12 follows the route of the railway until just past Gorleston railway station. On the site of the old yards are Homebase, Matalan and Lidl stores.
