After the Bam earthquake in Iran, Yas was inspired to write his first song, Bam. Though he faced criticism from an audience unaccustomed to rap music, his efforts were eventually successful. As of 2009, six of his 10 songs have been granted permission to be released in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Yas'' songs include CD-ro Beshkan ("Break that CD"), decrying a sex-tape which destroyed the career of an Iranian actress, and Hoviat-e Man ("My Identity"), about his pride in Persian culture. Yas has been interviewed by the media worldwide, including CNN, BBC and National Geographic. He has also signed a contract with an American music publishing company; Modiba Publishing (Evergreen Publishing).
