Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Yasca is an open source program which looks for security vulnerabilities, code-quality, performance, and conformance to best practices in program source code. It leverages external open source programs, such as FindBugs, PMD, JLint, JavaScript Lint, PHPLint, Cppcheck, ClamAV, RATS, and Pixy to scan specific file types, and also contains many custom scanners developed just for Yasca. It is a command-line tool that generates reports in HTML, CSV, XML, MySQL, SQLite, and other formats. Version 2.0 was released in May 2009 and was significantly refactored. Prior to version 2.0, Yasca was released as a single distribution that contained each of the third-party tools. This made the distribution large and did not give users a choice in which plug-ins to download. Yasca 2.0 now consists of Yasca-core, which is the main engine and any plug-ins written specifically for Yasca. Each of the other tools is available as separate distribution; they can all be downloaded from the Yasca SourceForge project page.
