As of the census of 2000, there were 408 people, 158 households and 124 families residing in the town. The population density was 465.0 people per square mile (179.0/km²). There were 175 housing units at an average density of 199.5/sq mi (76.8/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 75.74% White, 23.77% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.25% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.74% of the population. There were 159 households out of which 30.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.5% were married couples living together, 11.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.0% were non-families. 19.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 2.91.
