Through the pages of this compelling book, we journey alongside Mary, witnessing her unyielding devotion to the child she knew was destined for greatness. We come to understand that her "yes" to God's plan was not a momentary decision but an enduring commitment, anchored in her deep understanding of the scriptures and her unwavering trust in God's providence. As the chapters unfold, we encounter Mary's unwavering support and love for Jesus as He embarked on His earthly ministry. We witness her standing steadfastly at the foot of the cross, enduring immeasurable pain as her beloved son bore the weight of the world's sins. Mary's love transcended the boundaries of motherhood; it encompassed the entire human race, for she understood that Jesus came not only for her but for all of humanity, offering redemption and salvation to those who believed in Him. In these reflections, we learn that Mary's journey was intertwined with the journey of Jesus, each playing a vital role in God's divine plan of salvation. Her life was marked by unwavering faith, sacrifice, and a profound sense of purpose that continually guided her footsteps. As we conclude this transformative journey, our love for Mary deepens, and we see her not just as the gentle mother of Jesus but as an exemplar of faith, devotion and trust. Her "yes" echoes through the ages, inspiring us to embrace our own callings with courage and trust, knowing that it all comes at a cost, just as she did. In the poignant lyrics of "Mary, Did You Know?" and the revelations within these pages, we find a renewed sense of awe and gratitude for the profound love of Jesus and the tender love of Mary. May this journey enrich our Advent experience and draw us closer to the heart of the Christmas story, where love, hope, and redemption intersect in the person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Savior of humanity.
Autorenporträt
John is a cradle Catholic, the middle child of five, who grew up in upstate New York. Vatican Two saved him from learning Latin the year he trained to be an Altar Server. He attended Catholic School until High School when he transitioned to public school. He received two associates degrees from the local Community College, then started a job in a fortune 500 company as a draftsman. He had met the woman of his dreams and they had the first of their children 9 months after they were married. Six months later, the three headed off to the State University of New York at Buffalo where John studied Mechanical Engineering. By the time John graduated with his BS in Mechanical Engineering, they had their second son and headed back to his hometown to continue his 40 year career and have a third son and finally his daughter. He and his wife now have a son in law, a daughter in law and six beautiful grandchildren. Several events led him to deepen his faith - joining a Catholic Men's Bible Study; attending several Catholic Men's Conferences; attending a Catholic Men's Emmaus Retreat as well as being on several Emmaus Retreat Teams (including giving witness talks); attending daily Mass; Praying the Holy Rosary daily and being an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Church and Nursing Homes in the area. His engineering job brought him across the USA as well as Mexico, Europe and Asia where he enjoyed creating his own personal Pilgrimages to Holy Sites and sharing the experiences and pictures with family and friends. His retirement ambitions include enjoying his children and grandchildren, continued travel to holy sites around the world and sharing his Catholic faith wherever he can.
