This study was done with the objectives of evaluating 11 sugarcane genotypes along with 3 standard checks for sugar yield and juice quality performances; nature of correlation among important traits and identifying broadly and specifically adapted sugarcane genotypes for sugar yield under the three soil types of Metahara, Ethiopia. The trial conducted in a RCBD with 3 replications. Data were collected for sprouting, number of tillers, millable stalk, plant height, stalk diameter, cane yield, sugar recovery percent and sugar yield. The results indicated that genotype CPCL 02 926 (26.1), CP 96 1252 (25.71) and B 52 298 (24.88) under heavy soil type; CP 96 1252 (16.5), NCO 334 (12.8) and CP 04 1935 (11.85) under medium soil type; and CPCL02 926 (6.64), CP 04 1935 (6.62) and VMC 96 89 (6.56) under light soil type gave the highest sugar yield (tons/ha). Sugar yield exhibited positive correlation with number of millable stalks, plant height, cane yield and recoverable sugar percentage under all soil types. According to stability parameters, CP 04 1935 found to be relatively more stable than the others. Therefore, recommended genotypes should be studied for ratoonning ability.
