Autorenporträt
My name is Tisha Whittington, and I am a dedicated educator and author residing in Southwest Louisiana. Currently in my sixth year as a high school administrator, I bring over two decades of experience in education and coaching, driven by a deep passion for working with children and a steadfast belief in the importance of daily learning and growth.Throughout my career, I have been honored as Parish Teacher of the Year, reflecting my commitment to educational excellence. Beyond the classroom, I have coached various sports, including basketball, softball, volleyball, track, and golf. Notably, my golf team won back-to-back LHSAA state championships. This was special as a coach, because my daughter was one of our leading golfers on the team.My upbringing in a family that valued reading greatly influenced my educational journey. My parents ensured that my brother and I always had access to books, instilling in us a lifelong love for literature. This foundation inspired me to pursue a career in education and later to author a children's book.In June 2024, I published "You Can Sit With Us," a heartwarming children's book that emphasizes inclusion and kindness. The story follows Nola, a new student navigating the challenges of fitting in at a new school, ultimately discovering the power of empathy and friendship. The book has been well-received for its positive message and alignment with educational values. Beyond my professional endeavors, I have a deep appreciation for the arts. Growing up, I played the flute, piccolo, and piano, and I continue to enjoy painting with oil and acrylics in my free time. I also have a passion for sports and traveling, which enriches my life outside of work.I am actively involved in educational leadership, serving on the LACUE board and participating in the Louisiana Department of Education's 2023-2024 Aspiring Principal Fellowship Cohort and the 2024-2025 Louisiana Department of Education's Science Leadership Cohort. These roles allow me to contribute to the advancement of education in our state, furthering my commitment to fostering learning and growth for all.Through my experiences as an educator, coach, artist, and author, I strive to inspire others to embrace kindness, inclusivity, and a lifelong love of learning.
