What I call 'the ugly' are things we dislike or even despise about ourselves. In the stuffing down of these censured parts of us, we become conditional beings: some of who we are is acceptable and some is not. Thus we set ourselves up to live conditionally: one foot on the throat of 'the ugly' the other balancing our acceptable self, and all for the approval of others. And so, we are approved of from the outside in, and not, from the inside out. Whole-hearted love cannot show up in our conditional lives because we are not whole-heartedly available to ourselves or anyone. We are, therefore, conditional lovers attracting conditional love. Can you see then, that love begins in here, not out there? Love is, from the inside out. The energy of 'the ugly' is stagnant, stuck: a blockade of graffiti around the heart. The energy of love is fluid, free-flowing, and at an impasse. We are responsible for our own heart space. Whatever is in that space, consciously or not, we put it there. We can hold on to it or we can release it in any moment. Are you willing to be vulnerable? Are you willing to look at 'the ugly' anew, without judgment and with compassion? Are you willing to let go of 'the ugly' and 'get' UGLY (U Gotta Love You)? This book depicts a woman's outer journey to find a child lost to adoption, and an inner journey to uncover her self. This book will inspire you to love YOU.
