Jean Mack Pitzer grew up in Blair, Oklahoma and moved with her husband, Gordon Pitzer, to Texas in 1950. Gordon died at the end of his struggle with Alzheimer's disease. That struggle prompted the author to share their experience with others who might benefit from these special and often sad memories. Where both of them used to volunteer, Jean now tirelessly continues her work in the church and her community while maintaining a remarkable bond with her two sons, her entire family, and innumerable friends. She received the 2006 Humanitarian Award for volunteerism at Medical Center of Arlington.
