B.K. Chu was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1974. She graduated with a BA in English Literature and Philosophy from the University of Bristol, England. She then earned an MA in Conference Interpretation at the Monterey Institute of International Studies (now Middlebury Institute) in California, USA, before working in San Diego and then relocating to Paris, France. She currently lives in Stavanger, Norway, with her husband, Kjetil, and their four-legged son, Oscar (who turned two in April 2020).
