This work deals with the teaching of Physics in Youth and Adult Education (EJA) in the municipality of Bragança, PA, Brazil, and highlights the profile of the teacher of this subject in the high school course of this modality. We propose in this research to describe the current context of EJA (secondary education) in the municipality, to verify the reality of the teacher by trying to understand the difficulties faced by them in the modality and to make teachers aware of the urgency of changing traditional teaching practices, encouraging them to investigate methodological proposals that enable the construction of dynamic and contextualised learning in the teaching of Physics to young people and adults. Through this qualitative research, we noted that the municipality has a shortage of qualified physics teachers and that students find it difficult to relate physics to everyday life, despite their interest in the subject. We realised that more attention and investment is needed for the EJA, as there are basic needs that need to be met in order to improve the teaching and learning process of Physics in this modality.
