The aim of this book is to present the various forms of religious elaboration and expression among contemporary young people. Bearing in mind that this historical moment is characterised by a fragmentation, expansion, dissemination and profusion of the religious throughout the world, we see that the current era is marked by the manifestation of a religious syncretism that we are interested in understanding and investigating. This raises questions such as: what is the meaning of these diverse religious manifestations? How do young people justify their beliefs? To what extent are religious practices subject to the strategies of mass culture? In what context can religious practices be understood as modes of social organisation with political intentions defined in terms of a collectivity? Our interest here is not to answer these questions by erecting an ultimate truth on this subject, but rather to expose some possible perspectives of understanding, contrasting views that help us broaden this discussion.
