It is one of Africa''s most successful clubs, having won the CAF Champions League five times, as well as 11 domestic league titles. It is the second most successful Egyptian club in african history after rivals Al-Ahly. In 1911, the club was founded under name Kasr Al Neel after its location in what is now known as Casino Al-Nahr at Al Gezeerah . In 1913, the club moved to its second home near the buildings of the high supreme court and legislation offices at the intersection of 26th of July Street and Ramsis Street under the new name Al Moukhtalat meaning The Mixed .
