About the Author and Illustrator Author: A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a graduate of Drexel University, Jamil McGhee now resides in the Columbus, Ohio area with his family and has served as a lay minister for more than twenty years. Illustrator: Thomas McAteer is a graduate of West Chester University and studied multimedia design at University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He is the illustrator behind numerous picture books. He currently resides with his family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Jamil McGhee was motivated to write his second book, Penny and Friends, because of his interest in helping children have an enjoyable and exciting experience while learning. McGhee's first book, Zaniness at the Zoo, was published in 2008.
