The growth of microelectronics electronics pervades every part of our life, as more and more high frequency applications are reaching the average consumer. In recent years, the increasing requirements for the development of high speed, high-frequency microelectronic circuits demand a complete understanding of the properties of materials at microwave frequencies. The study of material properties at microwave frequencies and the development of functional microwave materials have always been an active area in solid-state physics, materials science and electronic engineering. Hard and soft substrates are the basic building blocks of every microelectronic device. Low loss microwave materials have been widely used in a variety of applications ranging from communication devices to military satellites. As the speed of the communication based devices increases to higher and higher frequencies, they increasingly place more severe demands on hard and soft substrates they reside on. The present book is a systematic study of zircon based hard and soft ceramic substrates and their devices operated in microwave frequency ranges.
