Wide occurrence of aquatic metal pollution is rising at an alarming rate. Bio monitoring offers an appealing tool for the assessment of metal pollution in aquatic ecosystems. Environmental changes over longer time periods can be monitored using planktons as potential candidates. Studies based on the bio monitoring of the combined bio chemical responses to aquatic metal exposure in bio indicators may help in the better understanding of toxicological mechanisms. As the Kerala populace is primarily piscivorous, the present study has very serious health consequences. A rationale scientific coastal zone planning protocol is recommended.
