The issue of the old and the new in literature was raised, and what suits the modern era in terms of literary composition, and conflicts arose over this problem that did not cease, the most violent disputes, even though the supporters of the new had made it clear to their opponents that the idea of ¿¿the old and the new in literature is not innovative, nor new, but rather The ancient Arabs knew it; Umayyad literature was an innovation in comparison to pre-Islamic literature, and Abbasid literature was an innovation and an extravagant innovation in comparison to Umayyad literature. This is due to the different eras and different life circumstances, and because all of this affects literature and gives it new colors that suit people's lives and differ from the lives of those who preceded them. The Arabs did not know in the days of the Umayyads, nor in the days of the pre-Islamic times, a poet like Bashar or Abu Nawas, and they did not address topics like those that poets in the second and third centuries did, and they did not know writing in the way writers used to write in those days, in the days of Al-Rashid, the days of Al-Mahdi, and the days of the caliphs who came after these two. Likewise, literature was renewed whenever circumstances changed and eras changed. Taha Hussien
