As the poet herself wrote about her collection: "All these children's games, songs and fairy tales were collected among the people of Volyn, in Zvyagel, Lutsk and Kovel counties; when writing, the pronunciation is delayed, characteristic of each of the counties. These materials, however, were not written down by any one person from the people, they were gathered for a long time in my memory; I know almost all of them, as they say, from birth, having adopted them as a child from village children and from my family, and I happened to check the materials from the Kovel region more than once on the spot later..." The collection is supplemented with sheet music.
