I saw that the Franks paid great attention to the man. They translated his poems into German, translated the Epistle of Forgiveness and other of his letters into English, and selected selections from the poems and letters that they transferred to French, and they said a lot about his philosophy and genius. I saw a similarity between the man and me in this inevitable scourge, which befell both of us in our early childhood, and had a significant impact on his life. All of this tempted me to study Abu Al-Alaa, and I praise this temptation and rejoice in it, as it led me to a funny result, which I was not waiting for, nor were people waiting for a researcher to reach.
