Autorenporträt
Dr. Neil Metcalfe BMedSc (Hons) MBChB DRCOG DCH PGCME FRCGP is a General Practitioner in York, England. He earned both of his undergraduate degrees from the University of Birmingham, where his medical degree in 2004 followed an earlier intercalated honours degree in the History of Medicine. Whilst a medical student, he was awarded prizes in anaesthetics, general practice, tropical medicine and writing. He qualified as a general practitioner in 2008, achieving MRCGP with distinction. He has published over 100 papers in English and French journals on subjects including dermatology, general practice, medical education and the history of medicine. He has presented at international meetings and delivered a keynote speech on the history of military medicine at the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland. He is an honorary senior clinical tutor at Hull York Medical School and has created and delivers several undergraduate modules at a number of medical schools in England, including in the history of medicine. In 2013, he was awarded the first-ever RCGP First 5 GP Enterprise Award before being voted the overall winner of the RCGP Enterprise Award. He was elected FRCGP in 2016.
