The events of the novel take place in an imagined world in which the world is divided into three great dictatorial countries: Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia, and three permanent conflict zones: India, Africa, and the Middle East. The Great State is controlled by the English Socialist Party, and its most prominent figure is the so-called "Big Brother." He is a mysterious figure, but he controls all parts of the state, especially the party that is under his command and spreads frightening slogans among the people, such as: (Big Brother is watching you, war is peace, ignorance is strength, The past owns the future. The ministries affiliated with this party were four ministries: The Ministry of Truth for falsifying history, distorting articles in modern foreign newspapers, and falsifying news, the Ministry of Love, which tortures people, appoints them as spies on each other, and absolutely prevents sexual relations, the Ministry of Peace, which was specialized in waging wars, and the fourth Ministry is the Ministry of Plenty, which was concerned with rationing and determining the quantities of food and starving people.
