Karana Sarira is a South African born author, writing under a pen name.

The author lived through the worst years of apartheid after a difficult beginning in an intensely religious family setting.

Almost strangled at birth by a locked nuchal cord, with consequent brain damage from the emergency procedure, at a time before ultrasound observation existed.

A naturally quiet reclusive nature, with an androgynous appearance attracting significant gender prejudice from early on in life.

Struggling with Bulimia Nervosa for years as a teenager before the condition even had an official name.

Conscripted into military service when the South African Defence Force opened its ranks to women. Fought on the wrong side of the war because of powerful media and brutal political ignorance.

7 years in an oppressive cult group powered by a doctrine of sexual abuse and psychological oppression.

Decades of bouncing between addiction and intense psychotherapy.

A successful career of many varied jobs despite early life challenges and the undiagnosed condition of ADHD.

Empowered by a deep respect for Nature and an insatiable need to know - EVERYTHING.
