Happiness is our real nature. Bliss is our state.
Then why we do not live in that awareness of constant happiness? What is covering our real nature?
Happiness is within us. Pleasure is given to us by some external object, situation, event or relationship. Pleasure is fleeting, impermanent. We however, consider pleasure as happiness. Therefore, we are only given a glimpse of that happiness, which is actually pleasure, from time to time. Thus, we are unable to experience constant, unbroken happiness.
Discovering this happiness, which we already possess within ourselves, is possible for every one of us. This book gives 52 such paths of happiness. These paths are given in the form of aphorisms. Each path is also given two pointers for further clarity. Each one of us can develop our own pointers.
52 paths are given only to indicate that we can be continually happy all 52 weeks of the year; meaning permanent happiness. It is not necessary to master all the 52 paths. Master one or more, we have mastered others too as they all are inter connected.
The paths are simple. Following them is not easy. That which stands between the simple and the easy are our past conditioning, our ego, our beliefs. Once we have the willingness to challenge these and test the paths to see if they are correct, and whether they are correct for us, finding everlasting happiness becomes a possibility.
