Produktbeschreibung
Donald Clarence Rogers went from living in a small town in Illinois to Camp Wheeler, Georgia, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and finally Fort Dix, New Jersey before being shipped out to England during World War II. As a member of the 9th Infantry Division, 39th Regiment, Headquarters Reconnaissance Troop, he went to various locations in North Africa, Sicily, France, Belgium, and Germany, earning a Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, two Purple Hearts, and five Campaign Medals. Everyone called him "9 Lives Rogers" because he avoided death so many times. While serving in the war, he wrote letters to his wife, which are included in this book, along with personal interviews the author conducted with his father. As you read the letters, you'll be touched by her responses, which helped Rogers survive the war. Her love, sacrifice, faith, and loyalty kept him going, so he could make it back home alive.
