Sam was longlisted for the UKLA award for her 2009 novel BILLY ANGEL, published by A&C Black/Bloomsbury. Sam's picture book STAR IN THE JAR, illustrated by Sarah Massini, published in January 2018.

Sam is a passionate advocate of improving literacy in schools. She runs several book groups for primary school children, challenging, inspiring and supporting creative writing and a love of reading.
