1944 in Tegernsee geboren, verfolgt Antonius ¿Toni¿ Pichler zunächst eine übliche Ausbildung an der Volksschule. Sein späterer, durchaus ungewöhnlicher Karriereweg ist noch nicht abzusehen. Auch der Besuch der Handelsschule führt ihn zunächst nur in eine Arbeit als Bankkaufmann. Schnell wird ihm diese Tätigkeit jedoch zu dröge. Er strebt nach einem aufregenderen Leben ¿ und besonders nach mehr Geld. Den Ausweg sieht Antonius ¿Toni¿ Pichler vor sich, als er von Croupiers erfährt. Dieser Job verspricht spannende Erlebnisse und ein beträchtliches Vermögen. Allerdings hält die Arbeit in der Spielbank auch negative Erlebnisse und Absurditäten bereit.
