Lisa A. Saunders was born in Montgomery, Alabama; she graduated from the Auburn University at Montgomery School of Nursing with her BSN and received her MS in health law and policy from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2019. The mother of three and a grandmother of four, she has retired from a career in nursing. She and her husband, Richard, live in Wetumpka, Alabama, near their family.
